Deyrul Zaferan and Mor Gabriel

I almost miss the plane because I set the alarm wrong and they have switched to winter time during the night.
Landing in Diyarbakir. I meet a guy with my name on a sign and get a small Renault from him.
Deyrul Zaferan, a historic Syrian Orthodox monastery is nicely restored but feels just like a museum.
A stop in Mardin, a city with narrow streets and pomegrenade juice.
Then towards Midyat to reach Mor Gabriel before sunset. Supposedly the first Christian monastery in the world, established in 397. The evening service is about to begin and I'm allowed in. This just might be Aramaic, the language that Jesus spoke. Cool.
