from La Morra to Alba

Everything outside is white this morning.
We head out for an omelette, and by the time we've finished eating the cloud has started to lift. In places, there are even patches of blue sky. The panoramas are still hazy, and the snow-covered Alps are little more than a suggestion.
Today it's downhill all the way. We manage to get coffee in Verduno, even though there supposedly aren't any services there. Roddi, on the other hand, is supposed to have them, but everything is closed except the church. The church is quiet, cold, and dim, while outside the sparrows are chirping away.
A few more farm tracks, and by the time we leave the vineyards behind the sun is beating down in earnest. Alba has been visible from far away, but there's no sign of the smell from the Nutella factory. Instead, the air is filled with the scent of locust blossoms, elder, and roses.
Alba is a big town, and it takes a while to reach our accommodation. When we get there, it's siesta time, so we head out for coffee instead. The streets are full of people bustling about.

The young man at our accommodation explains absolutely everything. Italians seem to react to foreigners in one of two ways: either they go completely silent or they talk without stopping.
We stroll around, eat gelato and pizza, and call it a day.
Distance walked today: 16.5 km. Total distance for the hike: 103.5 km.
