It has rained in the night, the clouds are still here.
I put on rain clothes, anticipating wet plants. There are many ups and
downs, slippery rocks and tree roots. Soon it’s too hot for rain gear. I take
it off in Pålnostugan. The open
hut is small but clean and kind of cozy, with a nice view over the seventh
largest lake of Sweden.
The sun tries to get out of the clouds, wet forest starts to sparkle. Up
on the plateau are some flat stones to sit on and let the wind dry my socks and
trousers. It is supposed to be always good weather in Abisko.
The positive thing about the Swedes is that they have put planks over wet
or very rocky parts. And they don’t have as much mosquitoes as in Norway.
On the other side of the highway starts Rallarvägen, a small and quiet
old transportation road between the highway and the railway.
Abisko is weird. It contains a lot of people with clean hiking clothes.
I have walked half the planned time and about half the distance. Today 25.1 km. From Kilpisjärvi to Abisko
195.3 km.
