3rd day, Jeagloaivi-Njárgajohka

Half of the sky is covered with a cloud.
No rain because that was the promise of the forecast. A man walks past me, from Germany, goes to Nordkapp along E1 but not in one go and he started in Germany, not Sicily.
Soon after the campsite I miss a turn but do not manage to go far. Up towards Rivkkoš the wind gets stronger and bugs are blown away. Only rocks and crawling plants up here. Later a grouse or ptarmigan instructs her chicks where to hide. I wait until they have all found a place.
Stormy Ráisjávri comes visible down below. Next to it is a cabin (locked) and a picnic table. To the ultimate joy of all the mosquitoes and flies I take off all my clothes and dip into the lake. For hygiene, the water is far from being warm.
I enter Reisa National Park which means large quantities of signs. Over the swamp before Čiekŋaljohka river is a wooden walkway which is a surprise. Much more enjoyable than it would be to waddle in the mud. Not this river nor Njárgajohka are deep now and can be waded easily.
No way to reach Arthurgammen today unless I want to walk 39 km. Which I don’t want. So I also make this a rather short day, settle near the river, read in the tent and watch the horseflies outside.
24,8 km walked today.
