11th day, Dærtahytta–Dividalshytta

I say goodbye to the Danes in the morning and we promise to meet in the evening but I never see them again.
A river to wade right away. So much of the dry and clean socks. Now they’re just clean. The lake shimmers, a few clouds in the sky. I look at birds, they look at me.
Swamp. And more swamp. Besides that? Mosquitoes! All this can of course also be looked at as some kind of very special organic foot care.
Over a hill and then there’s a massive river. In the sense that it’s very wide. And the rocks are very slippery. It takes a long time to slowly shift myself across. The shoes are clean now.
It goes steeply up after the river. Slow going but one just has to make enough steps. No wind, no mosquitoes. Just some butterflies. On the other side of the hill is a new valley and a new river. Dividalen is after that, filled with birch trees.
There’s someone in the new hut so I go in the old one. The first time I get to use my own DNT key that I got through customs and into the EU. I pour cold water over me on the porch. The horseflies are thrilled.
Today: 24.6 km.
