Before ten most places are still closed and streets are quiet. Only jeeps with huge tires and tour buses drive around collecting tourists from hotels for various excursions.

Wake-up earlier than yesterday to catch an even better sunrise. The cloud situation looks promising but most of the ice has left the beach.

going North

In the morning we attack the ice on the beach once more with a smaller group. An additional delivery of it was supposed to have arrived there last night.

After breakfast we meet our super vehicles. Two jeeps and one bus kind of thing.

There was a sun eclipse in the morning. Luckily the sky over Iceland was in thick clouds otherwise I would of been very sorry to have missed it.

It rains some kind of ooze in the morning. The webcameras that allow you to see the road condition show just white screen in one place.

In the evening there still were northern lights in the other direction.

hot water

When I peek out in the morning then the first thing I see is a Chinese guy taking a picture of clear blue skies and a row of snow-clad mountains. Not the best day for driving a car.

The main attractions of Reykjanes peninsula are Blue Lagoon and Keflavík international airport. It is very time-consuming to avoid the airport, lagoon can be managed more easily.

Gas station next to the airport is busy. More and more tourists travel around in rental cars and they have to fill the tank before returning the car.
